Product Scan: Turn Your Own Product Photo Into a Mockup

Your catalog stops being the limit: anything you can photograph becomes a product you can list, with the mockup available as a file whenever you need it.

Who it's for:ProducersDesignersScalers

"A mockup on its own is a picture. Product Scan gives you the product behind it: the listing, the schedule and the order flow that follow."

The Catalog Is No Longer the Limit

Every print on demand platform has the same wall. You have a product in mind, you look for it in the catalog, and it isn't there. A hand-thrown mug, a laser-engraved wooden map, a bag you sew yourself, a piece your local manufacturer makes for you. Until now the answer was to give it up or to spend an evening building a mockup by hand in Photoshop.

Product Scan removes that wall. Photograph the product, upload the raw image, and Listybox reads the printable area on it. What comes back is a working mockup: your design sits on your own product the same way it sits on a catalog product.

How It Works

  • Upload the photo. A flat, well lit shot of the product is enough. No template, no layered file, no measurements.

  • The print area is found. Listybox reads where the design belongs on the product and marks the area with its four corners, so the design follows the surface instead of sitting on top of it as a flat sticker.

  • Check and adjust. The area is yours to correct. Move it, resize it, and the change applies to every design you place afterwards.

  • It becomes a product. Add your variants, your production days, your costs and your SKUs. From that point on it behaves like any other Listybox product.

What Comes After the Mockup

A mockup on its own is a picture. The value is in what runs on top of it, and your own product gets the same treatment as a catalog product:

  • Listing content is written for it, with a title, a full tag set and a description built around what buyers search for.

  • It goes into bulk creation, so one product meets many designs in a single session.

  • It publishes to your store on the schedule you set.

  • When an order arrives, it appears in your order screen with the design files and the customer details, ready to route to whoever produces it.

  • The mockup itself can leave the platform as a file, one at a time, as a ZIP bundle, or as a bulk export. Use it in your gallery, in your ads, or on your own site.

Where It Earns Its Place

  • You are the maker. You produce the item yourself and want it listed with the same care as the rest of your shop.

  • You have a local supplier. A product nobody else on the platform can offer becomes yours to sell, at your own cost and margin.

  • You already have PSD mockups. Upload them instead. The required smart object names are print_area and color, the same schema the catalog mockups use.

The point is not to produce more listings in less time. It is that the product you actually want to sell stops being the one you cannot list.
